Geo. Skinner drowned

On Friday morning, about 8:30, while Wm. McDonald was cleaning up the beach at Grimsby Beach, he saw a body floating in the water about half way between the shore and the end of the pier. He immediately secured a boat and brought the body to shore. Coroner Alexander was notified and he notified Constable Bowslaugh to take charge of the body until he arrived. When the Coroner arrived at the Beach, the body was identified by several prominent fruit growers and cottagers as that of George Skinner, who worked at the Beach for a couple of years. Just where Skinner was drowned is a mystery and will probably always remain so, as no one seems to know where he had been the past year. The body was turned over to J.C. Marlatt & Son for burial, the funeral taking place to Queen's Lawn cemetery on Friday afternoon. Skinner was known to have had a wife in Australia and also two children. Efforts are now being made to locate them and notify them of his death. No inquest was held.
