Visual art teachers show off their work at Town Hall Art teachers must have an ability to transfer their skills onto their students, but how good are they at showcasing their talent? Well, a number of high school teachers at the Halton District School Board want to show people just that. Approximately two dozen teachers are showcasing their artwork in an exhibit that opened at Oakville Town Hall on Tuesday (Sept. 11). This is the fourth annual Front of the Class art exhibit. The show ends on Oct. 4. The show features more than 50 pieces in a wide variety of media, subject matter and styles. Some of the work is available for purchase. The show is hosted by ArtWorks Oakville, an incorporated, non-profit volunteer organization dedicated to promoting and showcasing visual artists in public spaces in Oakville. "Everyone knows teachers teach but not everyone knows that teachers also enjoy the discovery of learning," said White Oaks Secondary School teacher Christina Annis, an organizer of the exhibit, in a news release. "The show brings teachers together who have a love for the creative process together, which is invigorating and motivating. Front of the Class is a great opportunity to connect with others who are passionate about the arts and looking for ideas for the next project." Town Hall is located at 1225 Trafalgar Rd. The gallery is viewable during Town Hall operating hours. 23 · Wednesday, September 19, 2012 OAKVILLE BEAVER · www.insideHALTON.com photos by graham paine / oakville beaver / @halton_photog G up front: Above, Oakville Trafalgar High School math/art teacher Diana Hilliard stands with her acrylic painting titled Alice in Wonderland Goes Farming, during the opening reception of the Front of the Class exhibit at Town Hall on Tuesday.
