Night prowler spotted near Candles blamed for $40K kitchen fire Glenashton over the weekend Halton police are asking residents to be vigilant after a night prowler was spotted in the area of Glenashton Drive and Golden Briar Trail, Sunday. Police said at around 2:30 a.m., a woman noticed a man peering through her window. The man fled the area when the victim noticed him. Police said that while this appears to be an isolated incident, they will be monitoring for any similar activity. The prowler is described by police as middle-aged, heavy set with tanned skin and wearing a black hoodie. Members of Halton Regional Police Service are continuing to investigate this incident and anyone with information related to it is asked to contact the Oakville Criminal Investigations Bureau at 905-8254747 ext. 2215 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800222-TIPS (8477). The Oakville Fire Department is warning residents to be careful with candles after fire broke out at a Springwood Crescent home, Tuesday. Firefighters were called to the home at 1:44 p.m., after smoke was spotted coming from inside. Six fire department vehicles arrived on the scene at which point firefighters entered the home where they encountered thick smoke and a fire in the kitchen. Crews had the fire extinguished in about 15 minutes. Oakville Deputy Fire Chief Brian Durdin said two candles, which were left unattended in the kitchen, started the blaze.
