Crusaders women dressing up to fight cancer Once again, Oakville Crusaders women's rugby teams will dress up to continue the ongoing fight against breast cancer. Crusaders junior and women's squads will don prom dresses for their games tomorrow (Thursday), part of the club's seventh annual Prom Dress Charity Games event. The junior game (U18/U15) will begin at 6:30 p.m., followed by the senior contest at 7:30 p.m. All participants in the games are asked to raise a minimum of $40, and any other donations will be accepted by members of participating teams. Proceeds from the event will be donated to the Princess Margaret Hospital, one of the largest cancer centres in the world, in memory of Sgt. Shirley Fan. Fan, a family member of one of the Crusaders, recently lost her battle with cancer. Barbecued food and refreshments will be available throughout the evening. The first Crusaders Prom Dress Charity Game was organized seven years ago by former player Jenn Lamarre. The idea quickly spread through the Canadian rugby community, and now many clubs across the country set one day aside to play rugby in dresses.
