year the Optimist organization declare the second week of November as Youth Appreciation Week In Keswick the local Optimists staged a Youth Appreciation Week Variety Show From top left clockwise Barry has submitted his resignation to take effect Dec Harry has been a member of the law Volunteer Fire Department since its inception in and has been chief since and district owes Harry a large vote of thanks for the many services he has given his com munity over the past many years He will certainly be missed by his fellow volun teers but I am sure he will be available for any helpful suggestions in the future Harry claims he is going to be early in January I find this hard to believe I think the real reason for retiring is so he can compete with his wife playing golf Many happy years of retirement Harry KESWICK LIBRARY Council has received a request from the library board to keep our eyes open for a site for a more adequate library in the Keswick area I fully support this suggestion because the need is certainly present In finalizing our subdivision agreements we can likely set aside some area of land suitable for a new library in a central location CounciUor Beach was appointed to the library board at Mondays council meeting LAKE SIMCOE POLLUTION CONFERENCE Councillor Shillington as chairman of this group has had further meetings In order to finalize all the details involved Central Ontario Travel Association outlined the aeUvitiea of COTA for the coming year Vern Davis from Cedar Beach Park spoke on attractions to Induce tourists to come to this township In the brainstorming session Michael Mc Donald John Slbbald and Bill Robinson were the leaders and the topic was What should be done to increase tourism In the township The suggestions were many and varied such as building a ski hill amusement park theme park and many others It was agreed by all groups that the key was to promote Lake Simcoe The next meeting of tourist operators will be held Nov Two
