NEWMARKET The Farmers- Market is no more Newmarket wont without its summertime Saturday sales feature however with a redesigned operation now known simply as The Market beginning Saturday and operating weekly until the end of September Along with a new name and a move to the Optimist Hall on Dr comes a new concept organizer Marilyn Rivet told The Era I Jits going to be more of a flea market atmosphere she noted While produce will still be included in some of the booths operated at the Optimist Hall the farmers market designation put too great an emphasis on fruits and vegetables she ex plained A dozen permanent and than half a dozen part- time stalls have already been finalized but Mrs Rivet stressed a need for more ven dors We can have booths inside and out she noted Were hoping by the end of the summer to fill it right up Scheduled to operate bet ween 9 am and pm every Saturday The Market will accommodate about booths Permanent stalls rent for 10 per Saturday with occasional participants charged per week To lower costs organizers say parttime participants can arrange to rent a stall at the permanent rate for use on a rotating partlime basis Although plagued with financial problems at the outset The Market committee has cleared its debt to the towns recreation department for use of the community centre last year Finances were bolstered this year when give you While shes currently see CANT page Police lay cruelty charges I i i after hungry horses di AURORA York Regional Police have laid charges following the discovery of horses close to starvation on a farm near here last Tuesday After receiving information police went to the 2 Aurora farm at pm and found the horses in what was described as a very sick condition One of the horses had been tied to a tree in some woods and had collapsed due to weakness from starvation and lack of water The Ontario Humane Society and a veterinarian were called in to take charge of the animals it Is unknown how result of an argument between a man and a woman in a field just north of Highway early Sunday According to police a total of four shots were fired in the direction of Daniel Clements of Luxury Ave Bradford after he became involved in a dispute with a woman just after mid night Mr Clements another man and three women went to the field where the argument began police said The second man entered
