at Sault Ste Marie and won a silver medal for jazz solo and bronze for tap solo plus two gold medals with her group CathyAnne also attended the Peel Festival in Brampton and won the same awards there She is a student at Sandra School of Dancing in Aurora and is employed as a secretary at Stiver Vale arjd law firm in Newmarket Mrs Mabel her daughter and her daughter Beth of Newmarket have returned from a twoweek vacation in Hawaii They took in a Helen concert as well as Jim and Ruth While there Mrs celebrated her 7ist birthday by going to see entertainer Don Ho who presented her with a bottle were mailed from Toronto to Newmarket April 18 and to this date the letter has not arrived Jewell resident artist at Pickering College and director of the Junior School will have an exhibition of Jewell an old friend of Marys has served on the staff of Pickering College since His interests not only include painting in oil watercolor and mixed media but also clay and the pottery wheel and the raising of Canadian Hunter horses he was associated with the Artists Workshop now known as Hie Three Schools He studied portrait with William Winter and landscapes with WJ Ilopkfnson and Douglas and pottery with Walsh Mr Jewells paintings are exhibited In many regional art shows and are represented in many private collections in Toronto Arizona Florida and Ireland Examples of his work hang on the College walls and he has had a current collection of paintings at the Bank of Montreal Scott Of Grace St recently received honors In her exams is also a student of the Cechetti Ballet method of dance and recently danced in the ballet group at the Peel Festival The group received second place and a mark of 84 per cent We mentioned here last week about the local youngster who caught a speckled trout each NEWMARKET The last books entitled The History of Newmarket and the final special Newmarket Centennial editions of the towns hlsotry were obtained by the town recently Both books the centennial
