Hie Era Aurora Wed Feb Teachers wife named to board salary negotiating team I AURORA her husband is a York Region secondary school teacher King Township trustee Margaret Coburn said theres no conflict of interest in her ap pointment to York Region public school boards salary negotiations team Mrs Coburn was one of six trustees named to the team last week by board chairman Craig Cribar Among the other appointments was John Stephens who as a representative for I separate school sup porters in and Richmond Hill can only vote on secondary school matters In announcing the appointments Mr said Mr Stephens and Mrs Coburn will in ef fect balance each other out Mr Stephens remaining active in the secondary school talks and Mrs in negotiations with public school teachers An alternate member on the committee Mr Stephens said he is not able to devote the full MARGARET time necessary to negotiations but said he would be willing to step in as needed Mrs meanwhile said her interest remains strategy and planning of contract talks rather than negotiation of the actual salary figure I dont think there is any possible conflict there she noted While trustees should set the direction salary talks take the actual negotiations should be handled by professionals added the King trustee Other members of the team that will negotiate with the two teachers groups are Bill Monroe of Richmond Hill Bob of Harry Bowes of villeand Dorothy of King chairman of last years negotiating team Aurora trustee Norm separate school representative Terry OGrady Markham trustees David Crombie and Stephen Taylor and trustee Keith Hargrave were named to the team that will negotiate with Canadian Union of Public Em ployees Local Mr Stephens trustee Don Cameron Mr Bowes trustee Don Cousens and East GwiUimbury represen tative John were appointed to the grievance panel while Richmond Hill trustee Eric Baker and Mr Cameron were named trustee representatives on the values education committee The entire board have received only an eight per cent increase with the remaining three per cent of annual average of S350 per employee held back pending the ruling Mr Vollebreght said in light of the hoards decision
