I ft- i Hi committees at NEWMARKET York Regional Council accepted standing committee recom mendations at its inaugural meeting Thurs day over the objections of Mayor Dave Schiller of Richmond Hill Its just too much of an imposition com mented the mayor complaining that coun cillors had not been consulted on the recommendations and had no lime to study the list Chairman Garfield Wright obtained the required twothirds vote of council to introduce the item which was then approved as recom mended Council rejected a motion by Newmarket Mayor Boh Forhan that the issue be considered the next day as well as a motion by Ron of Markham that his own name be added to the engineering committee Mayor George Timp- son of Aurora was seated on two standing com- millees in addition to the administrative com mittee which is com prised of all mayors while Mayor Tony Roman was not given a com mittee post except for the administrative spot All other councillors were given one post with mayors also
