THE ERA if Ont Wed March 12 The Second Section Sports News District News Entertainment Boats are his business but real Horned Owl and other photo by George of Ihe Era staff MOUNTED ANIMALS HIS HOBBY By SHEILA IRWIN KESWICK When a Groat Horned Owl recently flew off into the wild blue yonder it managed to become entangled in hydro Highway and blew out transformer Someone called taxidermist Keswick almost immediately Mr Miller a licenced taxidermist for the past 10 probably as well known for his hobby as he is as the proprietor of Miller at Keswick Mr Miller is mounting the owl for display of the Jersey Public School The bird is a tare and magnificent specimen with a 52inch he says Before he could prepare it for mounting Mr Miller had to J miss on from the Ontario Lands and Forest department The art of taxidermy is only a hobby with Mr Miller but it is a hobby which occupies a good deal of his time Some of his own collec tion of mounted birds fish and animals are pictured Much of his collection is on display in a room the Miller Housecleaning a zoosized collection of mounted animals birds problem when theres a porcupine in the the solu- oldfashioned feather dustei a the Milter collection are native to below gull in full flight
