Wed nesday we had a soccer meet against Bradford The whole school got out at 2 pm to cheer our teams to victory And boy did we boot We had drums horns and great cheerleaders and evidently we cheered loud enough because our boys played great Our inter mediate team defeated Bradford 10 and the senior team tied with Bradford with the score Last Thursday we had a volleyball tourna ment with our school and visiting teams King City Bradford and Newmarket High The Senior I total of 10 they lost only one Co girls at Huron Practically ev eryone in the school is hust ling to get some special display ready for HOD tomorrow and I just know success Also on the agenda for this week was a special health movie for all the Grade 11 in the school The movie was based on the to pic of heredity and it prov ed both informative and in teresting to the students After all Im sure Jack would love to know just how Jill got her pretty blue eyes Our girls were pretty excited this week and hey had good reason to be too On Mon day October there was a Capping Ceremony held in the Boys Gym of our school especially for this class The purpose of this ceremony was to issue caps to these girls in prepar ation for when they start taking classes and nursing in the hospital at the end of October The girls are then asked to take a pledge of service to the medical profession The ceremony then carried on to the spec ial guest speakers with Mr Aldom as chairman The speakers were Mrs Superinten dent for Greenacres Mrs supervisor for York County Hospital and Mr Shepherd our very own principal Mr Shepherd outlined the history of nursing in Huron Heights an outstanding history I must say and he also in formed the girls of what is required of them Last but not least there was Mrs Shepherd Miss and Mrs Kenny to present the caps to the girls After the of whom are in Grade 12 Each Sunday we take part in a United Na tions model assembly at the University of Toronto There are approximately 70 for our country The meetings last from 2 to m and the first hour is spent in a General Assembly where resolutions are discussed During the second hour we split up into five com mittees and the resolutions are
