the Fede ral Government has dropped the winter Works Program as an aid to municipali ties and said that the trend is to let pro vincial governments aid municipalities Mr Roberts said the Federal Government would eventually step out of the municipal aid picture Under present legislation the Federal Government pays per cent of an Urban Renewal Scheme the Provin cial Government per cent and the muni cipality per cent Mr Roberts said he cant un derstand why there is opposition to New markets Scheme Here is a chance for the Town Newmarket to get back for every S4 it spends on something that is absolu tely vital to the community It is simply ludicrous that there would be any opposition he said Mr Roberts said it is obvious that downtown Newmarket must be re vitalized He pointed out both the town and its outskirts are growing rapidly If the core isnt revitalized new shopping areas will spring up on the out skirts he said And the time to do it is now he said not wait several years before
