has been around as long as Adam and has been proven to its uttermost by men such as Elijah who requested no rain for fortytwo months and was heard Almost every one believes in prayer and are quick to assure you that at one time or another they have participated in prayer However most praying today dwells in the realm of the formal or the frantic Prayers are uttered at the Initiation of newly formed Councils School Assemblies and Memorial Services as the right thing to do They are uttered in haste when a childs lite hangs on a thread or when financial disaster threatens the family resources But is this all that prayer is good for Even Biblebelieving Churches are feeling the ter rible decline in prayer support The popular midweek service called The Prayer meeting only appeals to a few committed and faithful Christians Others believe it is a good thing but by their neglect of it say that it is not important enough for them to free a night to attend Those who still hold on to the traditional meeting try every gadget and gimmick in the book to keep interest and attendance up but In their doing so prayer Is often shuffled into a very small part of the total meeting People who are dependant upon prayer are feel ing the squeeze Missionaries who hear the call of God to serve leave home conveniences and loved ones to face foreign cultures different religions and spiritual darkness They are assured as prayer cards are distri buted that Christians will be remembering them as they serve on the front lines However the prayer card soon finds itself with other prayer cards on the mantel in a Missionary picture gallery and Lord bless the mis sionaries everywhere is the extent the prayer support Because we fail in prayer Missionaries come home but dont return Each year fewer and fewer hear the call to go Pastors also feel the lack prayer sup port and become frustrated with lack of interest and growth and so we sec drop outs and a decline yearly of ministerial candidates Scientists are daily looking for new ways and means to simplify modern living and to save steps Machines and computers are being developed every day As we get caught up in this atmosphere of discovery we too seek new means doing old tasks But we arc glad to say there is no invention that can substitute for prayer Prayer stills holds first place as the source of Gods power and nothing can come near to matching it Per haps you are the problem and prayer is the answer Prayer is the privilege Gods children Are you a child of God through faith in His Son Jesus Christ Can you sincerely and truthfully say Our Father which art in heaven If you can why then dont you put to use this UNTAPPED SOURCE OF PRAYER that if it were fully appropriated would change your whole life Church and even our world More things arc wrought to Hawaiian Festival Night COOKING DEMONSTRATION Presented by Hydro Home Economist at NEWMARKET HIGH SCHOOL WEDNESDAY SEPTEMBER 8 pm MOTHERS Bring Your Daughters or a
