Mon day designating as a high rise area vacant land lying south of Wellington St and to the west of the senior public school The bylaw will be submitted to the Oriario Municipal Board for Its Council Dales called Reliance Ambulance Service of Newmarket who assured him In an emer gency if Mr Taylor wont coyer it we will There is no difference in the cost between Taylor and Reliance but only a min ute time difference Mr Taylor originally re quested he be subsidized as recent regulations from the York County Health unit en tailed a large expenditure en his part for additional equip ment but when the restric tions were relaxed council felt they were being asked to help defray expenses for Mr Taylor as he did not the equipment called for NO AGREED SUBSIDY Reeve Dales stated A subsidy of was never ever agreed to by North Gwil Council North Gwillimbury are pre pared to honor their agree ment of a subsidy pay able in 1968 for ambulance service Taylors Ambulance Service has given North Gwillimbury Township Council an ultima tum stating ambulance ser vice would be discontinued as of December Mr Taylor told The Era reporter he had received on a per capita basis 2000 from East 500 from Sutton and from and felt it was only fair North Gwillimbury should con tribute a subsidy of 2000 if they wanted to avail themsel ves of the service At North Coun cil meeting on October 2 the Welfare Committee was au thorized to take all necessary steps to ensure that the mun icipality have emergency am bulance service at any time and council ratified any nec essary expenditure entered into by the Committee for this purpose PROVIDE OWN SERVICE Councillor Wallace E Don- nell chairman of the Welfare Committee informed council a suitable ambulance service could be put into the town ship for approximately including 2600 cost for a ve hicle and about 500 for the necessary equipment The ve hicle would it was estimated cover 3800 miles per year and should be good for five- seven years service Getting drivers for the am bulance would not present a problem as they were only required to have First Aid certificates from either St John Ambulance Service or the Red Cross and most of the the busi ness community of the town William John died in York County Hospital on Tuesday morning Mr was born in Kettle- by in and was married to Use former Laura Harriet Murray in Mr homesteaded in Saskatchewan from until coming to Newmarket in 1931 and entering business here He operated automobile dealerships and a fuel busi ness until 1953 Mr Geer was a member of the High School Board for about 25 years and was also chairman of that organization He was president of Newmar ket Lions Club from and a member of the Cemet ery Committee He was one of the original members of Miami Greens Bowling Club and also active in lawn bowling When the first Junior Far mer organization was form ed in 1914 in York County Mr was the first presi dent of that group He also served as chairman of the Arena Commission for some years The late Mr was a member and also an elder of Trinity United Church Mr and Mrs marked the anniversary of their wedding in February of this year Surviving besides his
