"I feel good, I'm paddling well," van Koeverden told reporters after the semifinal. "The heat and the semi were both really good. I'm putting a lot of pressure on myself, which is good, I think. I just want to race fast." Van Koeverden is a three-time Olympic medalist. He earned gold in the 500m distance at the 2004 Games in Athens, when he also won bronze in the 1,000m. Four years ago in Beijing, van Koeverden claimed silver in the 500m race but finished eighth in the 1,000m final. This year, the 500m was eliminated in favour of the 200m distance, meaning van Koeverden will only compete at these Games. -- Visit www.oakvillebeaver.com for a story on how van Koeverden and Burloak Canoe Club teammate Mark Oldershaw were preparing for this morning's races Oldtimers (30+) · Masters (40+) Classics (47+) -ALSO· 3 on 3 Continuous Play "team entry" (20+) Week Eleven Photo Contest Winner: Photographer: Kathleen Dueck Age Division: G-U7 (Ford) Sponsored by: Jack Astor's and The Oakville Beaver A Proud Sponsor of Oakville Soccer Club
