The sisters had been looking for a permanent drop-off location for the books and, with the assistance of Ward 2 Councillor Pam Damoff, were able to secure a location at Hopedale Mall. Along with Damoff (on right) peaking out off the drop box is Cathy Duddeck, regional councillor. The two local sisters behind Books With No Bounds received a big boost after Hopedale Mall joined forces with them. Julia and Emma Mogus had been looking for a permanent drop-off location for their book drive for aboriginal children and youths, and with the assistance of Ward 2 Councillor Pam Damoff, were able to secure a location at Hopedale Mall. "When I initially contacted Hopedale Mall about a drop-box, I never expected such a generous offer. But knowing how inspiring these two girls are, I shouldn't have been surprised," Damoff said in a news release. Books With No Bounds is looking for reading material for children in kindergarten and up, as well as novels for teens -- they are not looking for text books, but rather books "to inspire the same love of reading that they share," stated the release. The official opening of the book drop-off box at Hopedale Mall took place last Friday -- the box is located by the Goodlife Fitness mall entrance, beside Hopedale Dental. "We have a great admiration of Books With No Bounds and are very happy to support this cause," Amy Rolfe, assistant property manager for Hopedale Mall. "It is refreshing to see such motivation." Books can be dropped off until Aug. 29 when they will be shipped to Thunder Bay. From there, the Mogus sisters have found an airline that will fly the books in to the remote First Nation communities at a 90-per-cent discounted rate. "We are so grateful to those who are helping us, like Pam and Hopedale Mall, and all the people who are contacting us about donating books," Emma said. "We always knew we could do this, but now we feel like the whole community is joining us in showing the kids in the Nishnawbe Aski Nation communities that Oakville cares about them." Books With No Bounds is still in need of sponsors to help pay for the remaining 10 per cent cost of the flight, as well as assistance with shipping costs.
