Little Britain soldier prefers Canada… without oranges

Many interesting letters have come out of Italy and parents and wives in this district have had many bundles of mail. One of the most recent letters is that from the pen of Pte. Clinton Hall, son of Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Hall, of Little Britain.

We get all the Oranges over here in Italy we need, but honestly I would much rather have Canada and no Oranges writes Pte. Hall. We took a long time to get here but here we are located on the side of a mountain slope. Sometimes the roar of battle is so great here that the buildings actually shake.

I had the luck this morning to run in to Clare Woolridge and yesterday into Jim McTaggart, so we have had real good talks.

I am now billeted in a nice home about ten feet from the sea shore. But above all I have a grand chesterfield to sleep on. In fact it is so soft that I find it hard to sleep on after being on the floor. We have a good cook (some 15 of us) and have good meals, pies and steaks. And I haven’t got to get up until eight o’clock.

Yesterday I had a ‘flat’ and pulled nine nails out of the tire. We have been having good weather and some of the boys have been swimming in the sea.
