Lindsay Family, formerly of Cannington, represented by five sons in Armed Forces

Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Grant proud of record – one son wounded – took part in D-Day Invasion – One son in Russian and other ports.

When one son enlisted in the service, then the rest followed one after the other, said Mr. Grant, 10 Colborne St. Lindsay. Mr. and Mrs. Grant, who moved to Lindsay from Cannington, a short time ago, formerly resided at Bracebridge. They have five sons in various branches of His Majesty’s forces.

Flying Officer David M. Grant enlisted at Port Arthur and trained at St. Thomas and Malton and has been four years in the service. He is at present an instructor in Navigation, stationed at Rivers, Man.

Pilot Officer Allan W. Grant also joined the services at Port Arthur and was trained at Regina, Brandon, Mountain View, Ont., Chatham, N.B., and Summerside, P.E.I., where he is at present.

Cpl. Norman J. Grant joined the Service Corps at North Bay and trained at Newmarket and Camp Borden before going overseas. He crossed the English Channel to France on D-Day with the 2nd Canadian Division, saw considerable action in France and Belgium and was reported wounded a few weeks ago. He is at present in an English Hospital.

Francis E. Grant, another brother is serving as an able seaman and enlisted and trained for some time at Hamilton, before going to the East Coast some two years ago. He has been on special convoy duty and has also entered many ports in Europe, as well as having been in Russia. He was a member of the crew of one of the Canadian ships in the D Day invasion.

Seaman Ivan C.Grant is the baby of the family and enlisted at Windsor. His home port is St. John.
