Bobcaygeon Airman is Awarded the D.F.C. Ottawa, Oct. 31 – Special – Air Force Headquarters today announced the award of the Distinguished Flying Cross to Wing Commander R.A. Gordon, whose wife, Mrs. R.A. Gordon resides at Bobcaygeon.
Wing Cmdr Gordon’s citation accompanying the award read as follows:
This officer has a fine operational record. He has completed a large number of operational missions involving many hours flying over the sea and more recently on air supply operations over the Arakan mountains into central Burma. He is now commanding officer of his squadron and is position has shown outstanding devotion to duty and efficiency. Most of W/C Gordon’s flights have been made in unarmed aircraft across mountainous jungle country within range of enemy fighters. His operational flying has always been of the highest standard.
