W-O Gordon moves into new section

London, Eng., April 19 (BUP)—The first RCAF Squadron to be based in Burma moved into its new quarters this spring from the Imphal Valley in India.

27-year-old Wing Commander Ralph Gordon, of Bobcaygeon, Ont., commander of this squadron, has dubbed it the “Elephant Squadron” with the appropriate motto “We carry the load”.

W/C Gordon received his wings in July, 1940. After various assignments in Canada, he was posted to England in 1943 and in the fall of that year he was flying off the English coast.

Gordon’s “Flying Elephants” exceeded all the other transport squadrons in the delivery of tonnage to British land troops in February.

A graduate engineer, W/C Gordon married a New York girl and has a baby son. A brother, Flight Lieutenant Jack Gordon, is flying Sunderlands off the coast of Northern Ireland.
