have been licensed by Goodyear to produce Suburbanite The Common Inglis THE MIGHTY UNIT Round We will allow up to It has been said a d I think with some measure of truth that in democracies one thinks of the people as personalities while in Communist countries one thinks of the people en masse Of course in Communist coun tries a few heads rise above the seething mass below They are individuals with a vengeance But who would wish to stand where they do the footing is too precarious at the end I sometimes wonder just how- far we free people are taking ad vantage of our chance to be in dividuals It seems to me that lately as never before I have heard it stressed that we have no right to bury our talents Do you I who read this know of one per- son who hasnt a talent whether I they make use of it or not When I I listen to a sermon and think of the years of study as well as the dedicated faith which has gone into its preparation I realize how great a talent put to its proper use can be When listen to an informative political speech or a doctor or a lawyer or a business man or the head of a labor movement speak whatever their sex may be I sec a talent in action But though most of us would be quite content to be left out of any of these ca tegories yet they arc a lesson and a challenge Most of us arc from to time faced with the decision as to whether wo will accept a posi tion in some organization or not It may be in the Womens or a church group or as a Sunday school teacher or to sing in the choir and from my point of view it is not whether we want to or not its just have wo the re quisite talent Some women have so many I lents they can do one or more of j the duties I mentioned and be- sides that bake a cake or make a salad that are worthy of a chef or they can do sewing or quilling i that show them to have real genius When I read a fine book or see a lovely painting or hear glorious music I feel like cheering t artists whe spent I long hours of intensive work and study before they could present their finished product But to get back to our own po sition We may accept a position from a stern sense of duty and after repeated request only to find that in spite of our fears we cannot only fill it adequately but can enjoy doing it Each of us is only a single unit whether in our home our church or our community and yet what these groups m a d C up of Single units but these units are each with its talents and if those talents be properly developed each has something to offer which makes that individual an indispensable part of any united effort When you look at the countries where voting is a farce does it not make you feel guilty if you fail to take advantage of our privilege of votirig in a free country Ive heard people say Oh Im only one person I dont count You should realize as I entitled this column that the ones the units are mighty and that if free dom is ever to spread over all the world the units must realize that each is a power and take advan tage of every chance to speak for the right In every group the units give the coloring They are like the many colored threads in a lovely tapestry If you have good ideas and real convictions you are like the bright colored threads and would not all of us prefer that to a drab stripe here and there that would be us if we had nothing to give And that reminds me we heard our neighbor Mrs Glover speak over the Richmond Hill ra dio the other day She spoke as a leader of our club The girls in this club arc doing just what Ive been speaking of that is developing their talents Each is developing a personality and learning too on occasion to merge that personality in the group effort These girls will not find it hard to enter larger groups and each will have a contribution to make So every way you look at it the unit when developed is mighty are Floyd Corner Heads York Riding Conservative Assoc The annual meeting and elec tion of officers for the York North Progressive Conservative was held tuberculosis care its monthly rates would be for a single person and for a family With the addition of men tal and tuberculosis coverage these rates would be considerably higher Similarly it has been cal culated that if the farm CO -opera- live rates for personal premiums were adjusted to provide the comprehensive benefits under the Government programme their monthly rates even without mental and
