White and family had Sun day dinner with Mr and Mrs Herbert White and family OBITUARY Arthur D Evans Arthur Evans Millard Ave Newmarket died on Wednesday Nov 27 at Sunnybrook hospital Toronto as a result of complica tions following influenza Born in Dudley Worcester shire England Mr Evans came to Canada in He was a public spirited citizen interested in all phases of public life and a tireless worker in community and municipal affairs Twentytwo years in munici pal life he worked with the town council and county council and was deoutyreeve of Newmarket from lo 1946 then reeve from to He was a member of the Sons of England and the Masonic or der An ardent church worker he was a member of St Pauls Anglican church he was a choir member for years Thanksgiv ing Day to Thanksgiving Day 1957 he marked his year in the choir by singing in the church services morning and evening He also had been a licensed lay reader for a longer period than any other reader in the Diocese He was a member of the Veter ans association and the Legion and served on the hospital board health unit board and was the instigator of the Upper Holland Conservation Authority which was organized in July 1951 He was interested in all sports and in his younger days took an ac tive part in some Mr Evans had been employed by the Davis Leather Company Newmarket until four years ago when a heart condition prevent ed him from carrying on his work He is survived by his widow the former Charlotte Simpson two sons Harold of Victoria St Newmarket and Fred who is su perintendent of the town of New market and waterworks
