were nomi nated to fill five council seats for the year when electors of the township of North Gwillim bury met in Bclhaven Hall on Saturday afternoon November 23 Two men are contesting the This years reeve and deputyreeve Roy J Pollock and Clark Martin are opposing each other for the first position This years councillor Frank received an acclamation as deputyreeve for Five are contesting the three positions of councillor present councillors J Doyle and William King are in a field with newcomers Lee Glover Frank Kennington and former councillor Cecil Pros- Nominators and seconders for the candidates are listed respec- tievly Clark Martin Alex Hop kins and Lee Glover Roy Pol lock Ernest Taylor and Art Dawson Frank Alex and Clyde Draper J Doyle Alex and Mrs Mary William King Fred Peel and Lee Glover Alex Hopkins and Clark Martin Frank Russell and Herb Hill- is Cecil Prosser Stanley Breuls and Clyde Draper Clerktreasurer Winch chaired the meeting which open ed at 1 pm From then until 2 pm the purpose was to nomi nate candidates following which the nominators seconders and the candidates themselves spoke on behalf of those contesting the five council seats Reeve Roy J Pollock a new venture 1 have lived in Newmarket for 111 years am years of age and have two children helped build an electronic plant here and when it moved to aside I remained here a I consider Newmarket one of the best communities in which to raise a family 1 am a graduate of a technical and for the past years I have been en gaged in electrical work con nected with engineering 1 serv ed with the Royal Canadian in the Second World War in the electrical branch I realize there is a big responsibility in being hydro commissioner but I feel that my experience qualifies me for this office Concludes
