volunteer British Col umbia Mountain Rescue group Monday morning He was on a narrow ledge on Mount Hope BC at the 2000ft level about am Pacific Mountain Time He was marooned on the shelf for almost 37 hours in a driving rainstorm and in nearfreezing temperatures He suffered from exposure but was in pretty good shape except for some scratches Bob Veltheer had broken his glasses when he fell down a 50- foot ravine on the mountain side He had scrambled up again and was stranded on the ledge be cause without glasses he was afraid to climb down for fear of making a misstep On Monday evening at 630 Mr Veltheer spoke to his son by long distance telephone He was in Hope Infirmary Bob was in good spirits and said he wasnt too bad except for some scratch es his father stated My son didnt seem to realize we had learned so much about what had happened to him and thought the reports were exaggerated his father said Mr Veltheer had telephoned from his King City home Bob thought he would be in hospital for a day or so and would then return to his work as a nickel miner He will be home at King City by Christmas He intends to go back to Aurora high to get two subjects he mis sed at the
