SIX Cont from Page always that way and sometimes a bird in hand or the dollar a bushel wheat may be better than two in the bin We wonder how some of the Western farmers would feel if somebody offered them some cash for their wheat and clean ed their bins and elevators The livestock men who had to clean out their barns at what ever price the market brought may be in a better position in this respect They had to sell when the critters were ready and while they may have had lean times at least they had the money to put into something else which is not true of the grain men It would also be an interest ing thought for economists to consider what would happen if several hundred million dollars turned up in the country to help when the credit supply is tight Honest money that is by which we mean that it has been pro duced by the land and is thus a true increase income since it resulted from having created something of value from labor land and equipment Or turn it around and ask what woulfl have happened if an artificial floor had been put under beef and all of it was stored waiting for the 30 cent beef market It just might be that the pol icies and ideas of farm support should be thought out again to see if there is a better solution than what has been attempted so far This plus more gener ous immigration may do more for the industry than patchwork decisions made from time to time while hoping for a poor harvest Let Water Run On Lawn If No Storm Sewers Councillor Suggests Aurora Two bylaws passed last year but virtually unenforced since will be given extra atten tion council decided One re quired the removal of storm drains from sanitary sewers the other prohibited cellar apart ments Aurora Councillor Keith sug gested that council follow up its decision of last year that all roof drains and similar drains must not flow into sanitary sewers Those who have gone to the expense of having their drains corrected are complaining about those who havent he said The town foreman should investigate the situation Asked what could be done if there were no storm sewer on the street Councillor replied Let it drain onto the lawn the same as I do A similar investigation should be applied to cellar apartments suggested Councillor William Da vidson There was a bylaw last year prohibiting cellar apart ments but they are still around he said He felt that the building inspector should take action in the matter Council Protests Ousting Of Mother Children Vandorf At the regular meeting of Whitchurch council Clerk Jack Crawford read the copy of a letter sent to the de partment public welfare ob jecting to the dumping of a familv a mother and five child ren in the Wilcox Lake district Council considered that such action was being taken with the full knowledge and consent of Childrens Aid Society and that the welfare department should step in and block this move Bridge Tender Mr Joreensen of the firm of Scrivener Co attended the meeting in connection with new
