in the arena We go to the matches as a courtesy to the Sutton police Chief said But if council objects we can stop go ing Reeve Howard Anderson asked why only one man Beverley Chllvers was on duty last Sunday afternoon explained that there were sever al complaints of waterskiers coming dangerously close to swimmers and that he had gone out on the lake to investigate Anderson said council could not afford to have one member of their twoman force on the lake on a busy Sunday especially since the lake is under OPP jurisdict ion When one man is on the water it leaves the township improper ly protected said Anderson Councillor said that a twoman force is not adequate to police the township Councill or Ernest added that ner and Chilvers sometimes pat rolled the township until 3 am The question is whether it is better for the police to be out on patrol or in the office where they can get calls Anderson said should be out on patrol where they can stop crime before it starts said But there are often times when I cant get the police either at the station or over the Sutton police radio Anderson added They cant be everywhere at once Sometimes they are out of the car investigating said Possibly a man in the office to relieve the men of some of the paper work would be a good idea Anderson said Councillors and both said the township couldnt afford to hire another man Council did
