worked hard on his particular job The dress rehersal on Monday was very good With this wonderful cooperation from everyone in the club the car nival should be fun for the par ticipants as well as the audience At the moment we give credit lines to just two individuals They are JB Barney Rcvcll the president and Mrs Robert King wardrobe mistress The others must wait until next week BY KEN STEPHENS yourself to think only of the best to work only for the best and to expect only the best from the Optimist Creed Education Week just past is a period when we take time to con sider some of the phases of edu cation in our community It is also a time when we as Opti mists stop to estimate the value of our youth program in this town As Friend of the Boy we some times become complacent about our work Kids is kids is per haps the understatement of our time for it is staggering to ima gine that the influence which someone now has on any boy may have such a bearing on the future of the world Really what is a boy He Is the person who Is going to carry on what you have started He is going to sit right vhere you are sitting and attend to those things that you think are so important when you are gone You may adopt all the policies you please but how they will be carried on depends on him Even if you make leagues and treaties he will have to manage them He is going to sit at your desk in the Commons and occupy your place on the Supreme Court bench He is going to move in and take over your prisons churches universities and corpor ations When you get done all your work is going to be judged and praised or condemned by him Your reputation and your fortune are in his hands He will assume control of your cities Right now the future Premier of Canada is playing marbles and the most famous actor of his day is complaining because he docs not want to go to bed Not your contemporaries and your fellow citizens but the boys out there in the school yard are going to say whether after all you were a grand and noble hero or a blath erskite It is the boy vho vill amend your rules alter your creeds and laugh at your mistakes He may think kindly of you and say you did the best you could or he may not your step All your work is for him and the fate of the nation and of humanity is in his bands So it might he well to pay him some attention Yours in optimism Ken Stephens Juvenile Probation
