presentation Councillor said You were all incensed about the situ ation in the subdivision when you met three people Now you pay nothing and leave it up to me to tell them the planning firm that its their responsibil ity Councillor said he agreed with the original 30- day resolution and that he was not backing down But he said that the council should have had the town solicitor at the meeting for advice and thought that the wording of the resolution poss ibly should be changed At the previous meeting the town solicitor studied the word ing of the resolution before it was passed The solicitor said it was okay said Mayor wondered at the time if we were justified in naming Mr Lew- ha nits associates Owners Report watched with interest the machinations of the Hawkins recently and ap preciate town engineer After being out there today admit that I authorized the wrong size of culverts lie said his decis ion was based on thiee inches of rainfall hour The only way to top this is a drainage ditch storm sewer or whatever you want to call it down that area he the initial plans as hey were the initial grad ing and gravelling Concerning final approval that has not been given The problem it not roads but there is a general drainage problem and there will be no final approval of roads until the problem is solved Definitely someone should ia something about it whether its the town or the said Councillor He said that since the engineer said he ap proved the culverts council should think twice about where responsibility lies Company Explains New Numbers On Buildings In Town building in Newmarket now bus a new number reports The Municipal Service Co The numbering has been done by Uniform Measured House Num bering System Newmarket the list municipality in Canada to adopt this system Under method of number ing individual buildings and lots which have no standard site are disregarded as units for numbering and a number is allo cated to every feet of Thus if there is a double house on a SO fool lot there is a number for each half But if the same lot has only one building only one number is used and there is a jump of two numbers to the next building If there is only one building now on a foot lot and at a future date that building is re placed by four store the num bers are there to lake care of the situation Every parallel street in town has the same set of numbers All numbering runs east from Yonge St and south from Davis Drive with all odd numbers on the east and north sides A straight line drawn on a map parallel to either Davis Drive or St would pass through the numbers on every street it cross ed whether or not they ran through to Yonge St or to Davis Drive For a while said the company it may be a little to j those people who are used to the old number to find a place by the new numbering nevertheless once the old num bers arc forgotten and the new system is memorized it simple Once a the numbering on one street be automatically knows the boring on every other parallel street in town I In other communities which have adopted this system deliv ery firms claim that they can save up to pet cent in time and costs It will not be too long before postal carrier ser vice is started and for this rea son it is important bat all resi dents notify anyone who may be writing to them of the new street number It is hoped that the new tele phone directory will not only carry the new phone numbers but also the house numbers No matter what development takes place in the future either from expansion within the town limits or growth beyond its present limits the numbering system ties in or carries on f the last number Town Engineer Goes With Toronto York Roads Commission A letter of resignation was re ceived Newmarket council on to Monday
