not say thank you enough quoted Mrs Gundy for the clothing that came from the Canadian Womens Work committees It was not only good and new but suited the children The articles had just that piece of ribbon or bit of color that is so important to the people of the Orient It meant a great deal to them to realize that people could love enough to do such work Mrs Gundy said that it is im possible to think of the Interna tional Relief program of the Red Cross without thinking of the accomplishments of the Womens Work Committees Newmarkets committee has a work day each month when the members quilt the agenda of town admin istration in need of immediate attention is a more strict of the municipalitys bylaws If one bylaw is enforced and overlooked an element of inconsistency is established There is a bylaw that says that owners of property must shovel their sidewalks in front of said properties I challenge any member of council or any citi zen of the town to walk from Ellen St to Lome Ave on Eagle St any hour of the day or night on either side of the street and witness a wholesale violation of the snow removal bylaw In the last mild spell there was ankle deep slush on sidewalks during the day and hazardous ice at night on the sidewalks of the particular area to which I refer Sooner or later the law of av erages will run out and some senior citizen will fall break leg his arm or ribs and suffer a long period of confinement be cause sidewalks are not shovelled as the town bylaw decrees they should be Another beef list along with this bylaw infraction is the unsafe driving of teenagers on the towns back streets Cars driven by teenagers have been witnessed driving in excess of 30 miles per hour on New markets narrow streets Event ually by law of averages while our police efficiently make the rounds of parking meters writing out tickets extracting coins deposited for the privilege of patronizing the town merch ants etc some child or adult will be killed or seriously injur ed as a result of the smart alec driving of teenagers on our resi dential streets As a father of small children it makes my blood boil to see this hazardous driving com pletely disregarded by the town police Unless the snow removal by law is enforced Newmarket council is negligent in the exe cution of their duties If police dont make a more diligent check on the wild driving of some motorists in the residential sec tions of Newmarket they are likewise remiss in performing the duties of their offices Yours truly Father of small children and son of a senior citizen There will be a
