In Investment Field J P Dies Suddenly m Aurora and District John Percy Kennedy St West Aurora died suddenly of a heart attack on Tuesday Nov He had been under observation for a heart condition for some time and had returned home recently from hospital Mr was proceeding west on Wellington St and had stopped his car at the and Wellington intersection when the heart seizure occurred his car did not move after the light had turned green other motorists investigated and found him dead behind the wheel of his car Dr Crawford Rose was called Mr was vicepresi dent and senior underwriter of the Toronto investment and bro kerage firm and Co Ltd He was a director of a num ber of other companies including Great Northern Gas Utilities Ltd North Star Oil Canada Southern Ltd Natural Gas Ltd Oil Pro ducers Ltd and Copper Cobalt Ltd Born and educated in the city of Toronto Mr Crysdale served with distinction with the Can adian Expeditionary Forces In France in the artillery Follow ing his return from overseas Mr Crysdale entered the Uni versity of Toronto and was one of the earliest graduates in the course of Commerce and Finance His keen interest in mathematics led him into the investment busi ness and for over years he had been associated with Gaird and Co Ltd Mr played an im portant part in the activities of the Investment Dealers Associa tion of Canada He served as a member of commit tee of the Ontario district during the years to and in was elected vicepresident of the association and chairman of the Ontario district for During the second war much of Mr time was devoted to the work of the war and Victory Loan campaigns A man of many interests he was a member of the University club and active in the community life of Aurora He was a member of the Aurora council Monday night that he is being prevented from rebuilding- a garage on Temperance St an old section of town by new building The history of Tom problem and how he has been held up by town restrictions was explained when he appeared be- before council The garage had been erected many years ago and was in need of repairs The owner decided to rebuild it During the course of recon struction he was notified by the building inspector that he re quired a building permit He ob tained the permit and then re sumed work on the building A second time Mr King the build ing inspector ordered him to stop work on the building It was noticed that the garage was only two feet from the street line A bylaw introduced with in the past few years requires a distance of three feet Having been held up for some time on reconstruction Mr was reported to have called Mayor Henderson and to have asked for a special council meet ing earlier in the month He had been held up since October On questioning by Reeve Mur ray Mayor Henderson admitted telling he would riotcall a special meeting of council be cause it would cost the town 40 On Monday night the mayor said he could not see having a special meeting for that purpose Aurora council earlier set a policy that councillors not be paid for attending special meet ings Deputyreeve Jones said the bylaw should be to help in situations like
