Saturday night following a crash involving a car and a truck on Yonge St less than a mile north of the Davis Drive corner Newmarket The three people injured were Mr and Mrs Marshall Rank and Anne Aurora They were on their way to the Ranks cottage when a truck collided with their Charges of dangerous driving and of driving while impaired were laid against the driver of the truck SPECIAL COMMITTEE TO MAKE CANCER DRESSINGS HERE A dressing group of the Cancer Society will meet in the board rooms of the department of agri culture Botsford St Newmarket on Nov 5 Mrs Kenneth Mor ton chairman of the committee was appointed at a meeting held in Newmarket last week The purpose of the meeting is to make dressings for cancer pa tients and everyone is invited to attend The committee also is asking housewives to give old sheets and pillow cases which are used in making dressings Dress ings are provided cancer patients in hospitals or at their homes without charge The group hopes to meet on the first and last Thursdays of each month to carry on this work At a meeting last week the purpose was to form a unit of the Cana dian Cancer Society in Newmar ket but as yet there has lacked a sufficient number of interested citizens to form the unit In the meantime a committee to make dressings has been set up and it being assisted by the Aurora unit of the Canadian Cancer So special meet ing held in Toronto yesterday morning A committee of northern representatives voted to accept an offer that would provide the Davis family residence as a gift to the county Charge Driver driver of the truck Johan nes Tolman Aurora was tak en into custody following the ac cident and the two charge were laid against him He was unin jured as was the driver of the car The Ranks were on their way north to their summer cottage when the accident occurred Ac cording to police the light pick up truck which was travelling south swerved into the north bound traffic lane Mr Rank attempted to avoid a collision by pulling his car to the right but was unsuccessful Mrs Rank was discharged from hospital on Sunday She suffered facial lacerations Mr Rank who suffered head injuries and Miss who suffered shock back injuries and facial cuts and lacerations are expected to be able to return home in a few days Provincial Police Constable Gordon investigated the accident OWNERS OF CYCLES WITH MOTORS MUST BUY PERMITS CHIEF Owners of bicycles propelled by motors each must obtain a motor vehicle operators license and no person under the age of may obtain a license according to Chief Constable Byron It has come to my notice that a number of bicycles have been converted to motor cycles with out the necessary licenses and from now on they will be requir ed to have licenses to drive on public
