performed by Rev the graveside service of the Canadian Legion was given by Comrade Joseph and the salute to the departed com rade was given by bearers Com rades Joseph McGrath Jack Jones Albert P Cairns and A Jar- vis Their crimson poppies the symbol of service and sacrifice were laid on the flag draped casket The funeral service was held in All Saints Anglican church conducted by the rector Rev D Michel where a large gathering of friends paid their last respects to one who had tes tified allegiance to the Crown loyalty to Canada the country of his adoption and had moved among the folk he loved so well with uprightness The rector spoke of his record as a great soldier and his love of children in the neighborhood He paid tribute to the pride he had taken in for and beautifying the church grounds for many years Members of the congregation of the Anglican church Lake Marie and King Athletic Association King Leg ion and personal friends at tended Mr passed away suddenly on Saturday afternoon from a heart seizure at his- home in King City where he lived alone of the fact that he was born on Victoria Day May 24 years ago Mr carried the Victoria Medal among his service medals He was born at Jersey on the Chan nel Islands enlisting with the Imperial Army for service in Ceylon Burma and Mnlaya He would tell of unique experiences on the northern frontier lines I and after eight years he was demobilized immigrating to Canada in As a young man he arrived at Kleinburg railway station bound for Noble ton where he was to work for James Kaake as a farm helper One of his first acquaintances was Mr Andrew He was hired on sev eral and King farms In he enlisted In the 127th York Rangers Battalion and served overseas on military con struction work until after the first World War When ho set tled in King City he had lived with Mr and Mrs George How ard and spent much time in the home of Harry Edwards After Mr James bought the Pinkerton properly on King street known resident of the district Stanley Jackson Cain passed away at his homo mony Villa Highway an township Known as a suc cessful farmer and breeder of cattle he lived most of his life in this vicinity where he had a host of friends Mr Cain acted as chairman of the Board of Stewards In United church He took a keen Interest in community affairs For many years was prominent in Masonic circles In he served as Worship Mas ter of the True Blue Lodge AF and AM No Bolton and the previous years was a popular member of the senior Wardens Association of Toronto District KESWICK CO and inch PHONE 2404 KESWICK Last year he served as Worthy Patron in the Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star in Bolton He will be much missed in Lodge circles The last rites of the Masonic order were con ferred at a service in his home en Sunday evening conducted by True Blue officers and members with many from King Caledon East and Toronto lodges in attend ance Stanley Cain was the eldest son of the late Thomas and Margaret Cain formerly of Aur ora He is survived by his wife the former Pauline two sisters Mrs George White Pearl Keswick and Mrs Toronto two brothers Elliot and Harold also six nephews and three nieces A sister Mrs Al bert Kerr predeceased him The funeral service on Mon day at his home was well at tended Interment was in Laurel Hill cemetery Bolton Six mas onic members acted as Flower bearers the province will be holding various functions during this week in honor of our Grand Patroness Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II Branch had already been working on a similar idea for this locality when the news was received from Command On Friday the 13th our Legion Coronation committee will be meeting with the town council committee to start working on the plans program etc It is hoped that all local organiza tions will eventually participate The Canadian Legion respect fully asks all citizens to start planing their celebrations and decorations We shall soon have coronation decorations on
