George VI for whose recovery to health and activity millions of loyal subjects now ardently pray v Musical Program There are many pages in the musical program of that historic occasion begun with God Save The King and fol lowed by O Canada Mrs Willis tells us that she learned to sing 0 Canada in French and that that is the way she still sings it most easily As we have remarked there cannot be many copies of that great event of years ago sur viving The one we have been pleased to see is in on excellent state of preservation Cagey Practices An editorial in last weeks Au rora Banner contained this intro ductory sentence Th Banner was honored this week in being asked to cover the meetings of one of the towns public service bodies regularly In the same paragraph it was stated that those meetings had not been regularly covered by the press although- there- had been no intention or desire on the part of members of the body in ques tion to keep things hidden from the public The chairman of the organization complimented the Banner on being fair No mention is made of what body or organization is to be covered by the Banner The leader is left to guess which and organization did honor to the Banner However on the front page of the same issue of the Banner there is a report of a joint meet ing of the Aurora high school and public school hoards and a statement to the effect that fuller picture of their organ izations vilt he published in the Banner in the month of Novem ber The chairman of the joint meeting was Dr J Ileiuter No Invitation In two years of local and have not once been asked to attend eiUur a meeting of the high or ptililie school hoard Ve have in thai I time more Hum one for from these bodies in the pub lic interest j No attempt whatever has made by either I he chairman tins high or I school to inform the the on the online of their the chairman of the high to a loan of he was by Councillor for the of of the new high school building chairman old a full council he tin name has never in fact been published The of the school nod board bought laud on Kennedy St- at a nVn of I he gd was to announced The was known only on budget nighty and tlu budget had to he hold over for two weeks as the records The land has never been for the Molding of a school and it is un likely lhat ever will ho so have sarnie to ask in News I a go of both the high and the public board They Afraid Meanwhile be it noted that although several hundred copies ami we mean several hundred of the Era and and Au rora News Page are bought ocu larly at newsstands every week in Aurora we have not once been askcd to attend any meet- Ingfl of the school boards What are they afraid of Are afraid that we hull tell the of Aurora too much they have gotten Mayor Bell People Know The town solicitor advised that the zoning bylaw should not receive a thlrcl leading until the citizens were made fully aware of lie urged that its contents he publicised Ques tioning the process of continuing to read the with the pur pose of giving ft second statu tory reading he asked what Use it was to pass a bylaw and then wards to ask for clarifica tion of its contents v The zoning bylaw ho said was full of pitfalls And one thing we Kike to know is this Where did the bylaw unite from Who wrote it up That was a question that n member of council asked What will happen to it now we cannot forecast We do know however best thing that could happen to it That would he to it up and put it in the wastepapor basket Thats How It Goes Thus the process goes on of orders and regula tions for the citizens of Aurora while at the same time the peo ple who pass these restrictions dont themselves adhere to them The whole setup is fantastic and what is done is no longer even a joke It was pathetic to sec group of men trying to discuss a zon ing bylaw the language of which was utterly beyond them It was undoubtedly a product of a department of the provincial government but no questions were asked where it came from Apart from the passing of tho bylaw restricting the elections time nothing definite was done at this more than four hours special meeting which cost the ratepayers money The repre sentatives from King and Whit church townships will have to come back again for another meeting over the fire services as there were no figures ready for them to work on And that is how it goes Continued from Page scored in the history of Aurora with Don Glass heading the poll with votes cast in his favor He polled more votes than Mayor Bell For business and domestic reasons lie retired at the end of the 1050 term and Aurora lost its most dynamic and consistent councillor Since his retirement the business methods of council have stead deteriorated The vision and action he brought to everything that again for council election COUNCIL REPORT Continued from Page the building bylaws in regard to the hydro building came on to the council table and never to stand up for his opinions Other Offices Held His council experience has been very greatly augmented by his services on the recreation commission of which body he is the chairman The recent fi nancial statement published in
