Capt. Forman on the job

Following 5 years of service in various parts of Canada, Capt. Jasper Forman, is back on the job at the court house as Sheriff and Local Registrar. Furing the period, Capt. Forman was engaged in several important positions, chiefly in connection with Prisoner of War Camps.


For five years past Mr. A.J. Campbell has filled the positing of Acting Sheriff efficiently and well.

Jasper Forman whose home is 26 Bond St. Lindsay, Ont. enlisted for service in April 1916, and July 1940 as a Private in 1916 and a Lieut. in 1940. In the first war he was attached to the 109th Canadian Infantry Battalion and sent overseas in July 1916. He saw action on the Western Front before his return on 16 June 1919 with the Distinguished Conduct Medal with Bar and the Military Medal to his credit.


In World War II Lieut. Forman was attached to the Veterans’ Guard of Canada and served in Kingston, Ottawa, Montreal, Fredericton, Farnham, and Grand Ligne. He was promoted to Captain Adjutant and used his training in signaling, conducting and internment operations. He was sent overseas twice in the course of his duty in February 1942 and April 1942. He was given his discharge on 2 October 1945.


Previous to enlisting for service in the Second World War, Captain Forman was holding the positions of Sheriff, Local Registrar S.C.O., Registrar Surrogate Court and Clerk of County Court, County of Victoria. He is welcomed back to his office in the Court House Lindsay, and to the community.


J. Forman of Lindsay was among the many veterans of this district who registered at the Reception and Reunion Dinner held in Lindsay on Saturday 19 January 1946.
