While Comeau-Seguin and many of her colleagues in police, fire and emergency services are happy to give blood, they alone cannot meet the need facing the country, with the Canadian Blood Services website stating 4,300 donors are needed this summer alone. Comeau-Seguin encouraged anyone who is capable of donating blood to do so, stating fear of the needle shouldn't keep people away. "It's a big needle, but it hurts for about half a second and then it feels great because you are in a comfy chair, you're relaxing and you don't even know it's happening," she said. "They even cover up the needle so you don't have to look at it." For more information about Canadian Blood Services, visit www.blood.ca or call 1-888-2-DONATE (1-888-236-6283).
