Description
Grattan H. Elliott whose parents live at 93 Melbourne St. W. in Lindsay, enlisted in the Canadian Army on 4 November 1942.

Grattan Elliott entered the ranks of the 48th Highlanders of Toronto. He had the rank of Corporal and trained at Orillia (Ontario), Kingston (Ontario), and Stratford (Ontario).

Cpl Elliott was sent overseas on 18 July 1943.

He saw action with the army against the enemy in France, Holland and Germany.

During his service Grattan Elliott was promoted from Pte. to Spr to L/Cpl and to Corporal.

Cpl Elliott transferred from the 48th Highlanders to the 1st Canadian Railroad Regiment.

He suffered an knee injury while serving overseas.

Cpl. Elliott arrived home on 12 August 1945 and was given his discharge on 24 November 1945.

Previous to enlistment Cpl. Elliott was employed with the C.N.R. in Oshawa. He has resumed work in that centre.
