Youth charged after White Oaks fight By David Lea OAKVILLE BEAVER STAFF A 17-year-old Oakville youth has been charged in connection with a schoolyard fight at White Oaks Secondary School Thursday that ended with a student being taken to hospital with a knife wound to his side. Halton police were called to the 1330 Montclair Dr. school at around 12:25 p.m. last Thursday after receiving reports that two students had been injured after a third student pulled a knife during a fight. Police said the primary victim was transported to Oakville-Trafalgar Memorial Hospital (OTMH) and received treatment for a minor cut to his abdomen. A second victim was treated at the scene for a superficial knife wound to his hand that occurred when he attempted to intervene in the fight, police said. A small pocketknife was recovered during the police investigation. The suspect has been charged with assault with a weapon. His identity is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. ERIC RIEHL / OAKVILLE BEAVER Police called the day's event "an isolated scene of disturbance: A Halton Regional Police cruiser is seen outside White Oaks incident," which took place within the conSecondary School on Montclair Drive last Thursday (June 14) where two students were injured in fines of the school property, but not the what police called a disturbance at the high school that involved three students. A third student school itself. was taken into custody at the scene. Police said those involved in the fight were known to each other.
