April 28, 1944 SONS ARRIVE HOME One WAS OVERSEAS
Charles and Raymond Booth, Lindsay, Get Furloughs Simultaneously
Lindsay, April 28 (Special) — A happy reunion took place at the home of Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Booth, 37 Sussex St. N., Lindsay, when Pte. Charles H. Booth, 19, arrived home from England and his brother, Sgt. Raymond Booth, RCAF, came home at the same time from Prince Edward Island.
It seems like a dream to have both of my boys home again, said the happy mother, and especially to know that Charles was not seriously wounded for, although I knew he was being invalided from England, I did not know for what reason. I hope that all mothers will shortly experience the same happiness of having their loved ones with them again.
Pte. Charles Booth enlisted at Peterboro in November 1942, and following training at Cornwall and Camp Borden went overseas in 1943. While in England he was transferred to the Canadian Infantry Reserve Unit and experienced several bombing raids. He brought a gift to his mother of flowers he had picked in England before leaving. Sgt. Raymond Booth recently graduated from the Bombing and Gunnery School at Mt. Pleasant, Prince Edward Island, and is on furlough before being transferred to another training depot.

This card is part of a larger collection of World War II personnel clippings. The project began in 1944 at the Lindsay Library. The intent was to gather together as much information as possible on the military record and the service of people from the Town of Lindsay and the County of Victoria (now Kawartha Lakes) who served in the war. To that end, during the years 1944, 1945, and 1946, members of the public donated photographs and updated information about their loved ones. Both library staff and the public saved and donated newspaper clippings. Some of the files contain great amounts of detail, while others have just a name.
