September 28, 1944 Local Boys Meet While In Belgium
It's a small world after all – at least two boys from Lindsay who are serving with Canada's armed forces think so.
They are, Joe Begley, son of Mr. Thomas Begley and Douglas Lamb, son of Charles Lamb.
They were at a dance sponsored by the Belgians to mark the return to their native town of two of their number, who had escaped and lived in a nearby woods during the entire time of the German occupation.
July 1945 THREE IN SERVICE, ONE HOME
Pte. Jos. Begley has arrived home on furlough, after spending 2 years overseas, previous to which he was 22 months with his regiment in Jamaica and also trained in Naimo, B.C.
Two other brothers, Ward and Leo Begley are serving overseas.- Media Type

- This card is part of a larger collection of World War II personnel clippings. The project began in 1944 at the Lindsay Library. The intent was to gather together as much information as possible on the military record and the service of people from the Town of Lindsay and the County of Victoria (now Kawartha Lakes)who served in the war. To that end, during the years 1944, 1945, and 1946, members of the public donated photographs and updated information about their loved ones. Both library staff and the public saved and donated newspaper clippings. Some of the files contain great amounts of detail, while others have just a name.
