Moms to hold minute of silence at site of Bronte cell tower Concerned mothers said they would hold a minute of silence at the Bronte Road/Rebecca Street cell tower today (Friday) as the new commercial antennas are switched on. The demonstration was scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m. "Science has shown radiation from these cell towers is linked to infertility, diabetes, heart problems and cancer, among the known biological effects," said Wendy Perkins of MARE (Mothers Against Radiation Emissions), a gathering of activists representing the MYBronte citizens' group. Town council gave a green light to the Halton police to enter into an agreement with Bell to allow the corporation to co-locate on the tower. Halton Region's Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Bob Nosal, has said there is no convincing evidence weak radiofrequency signals from cell towers cause adverse health effects. Nosal, however, did acknowledge the agreement between Health Canada, the World Health Organization, and the International Agency for Research on Cancer that additional research is warranted. 13 · Friday, June 1, 2012 OAKVILLE BEAVER · www.insideHALTON.com The Regional Municipality of Halton www.halton.ca Bulk Waste Collection 3 Items Maximum Upcoming Bulk Waste Collection Dates for Oakville Collection Area 1 Collection Area 2 Collection Area 3 Collection Area 4 Collection Area 5 Collection Area 6 Collection Area 7 Collection Area 8 Tuesday, June 12, 2012 Tuesday, June 26, 2012 Tuesday, June 5, 2012 Tuesday, June 19, 2012 Friday, June 15, 2012 Friday, June 29, 2012 Friday, June 8, 2012 Friday, June 22, 2012 Acceptable Bulk Waste Materials (3 items max.)
