The YMCA of Oakville will join others across Canada this weekend in hosting YMCA Healthy Kids Day. Designed to help kids and families embrace healthy habits that can become a lifelong practice, the free community event is Sunday (June 3). It will offer activities, practical information and ways to be healthier. Across Canada, most children do not meet recommended levels of daily physical activity with rising rates of obesity and related chronic disease indicating that getting kids active should be a top priority for parents, schools, YMCA Healthy Kids Day full of activities and all Canadians, stated a press release. "Our children's health is very important to us. Our aim is to show families, children and youths that making healthy choices can be fun and easy," said YMCA of Oakville President and CEO Darryl McKenzie.
