July 3, 1943 Mrs. Merrill G. Bailey received a card from her husband F. Sgt. M. G. Bailey who has been prisoner of war one year and who is in Stalag Germany.
Haliburton PNS
F. Sgt. Bailey has not been receiving any mail from his wife nor his parents who write twice a week. Out of eight parcels he has only received one.
Where the mail is going is a mystery and it is regretted that the young man who is in that far away land cannot hear from the folks back home.
July 20, 1943 Fl. Sgt. Pilot Merrill G. Bailey spent his second birthday in a German prison camp this week. His parents reside in Eagle Lake and his wife Muriel C. Bailey is a resident of Haliburton.

- This card is part of a larger collection of World War II personnel clippings. The project began in 1944 at the Lindsay Library. The intent was to gather together as much information as possible on the military record and the service of people from the Town of Lindsay and the County of Victoria (now Kawartha Lakes)who served in the war. To that end, during the years 1944, 1945, and 1946, members of the public donated photographs and updated information about their loved ones. Both library staff and the public saved and donated newspaper clippings. Some of the files contain great amounts of detail, while others have just a name.
