Word has been received that L.A.C. Lloyd Atchison has arrived safely overseas.

May 23, 1944

LAC. Lloyd Atchison, son of Mr. and Mrs. M.F. Atchison, 42 Kent St. E., Lindsay, has returned home after spending over a year’s service with the R.C.A.F. in England.
Lloyd told the Post this morning that the English country is very pretty and is rather different from the Canadian countryside, however he was not so fussy about the damp climate that is prevalent in England.
The English are very good to our servicemen over there, he said, and the boys are confident of victory over the Germans. The thing that seems to be uppermost in their minds right now, is the condition of Canada when they come back, and are they going to have work to go to when they leave the service.
When asked if he had met any of the boys from home Lloyd said that he had met practically all the boys from the 45th Regt. as well as Sqd. Leader Hugo Beall, Doug Lamb, Harold Drury and a few more that he couldn’t recall off hand.
LAC. Atchison looks very well and reports to be in the best of health; he is glad to be in his home town and remarked how nice it was to come back home and see all his friends and relatives.

Notes
This card is part of a larger collection of World War II personnel clippings. The project began in 1944 at the Lindsay Library. The intent was to gather together as much information as possible on the military record and the service of people from the Town of Lindsay and the County of Victoria (now Kawartha Lakes)who served in the war. To that end, during the years 1944, 1945, and 1946, members of the public donated photographs and updated information about their loved ones. Both library staff and the public saved and donated newspaper clippings. Some of the files contain great amounts of detail, while others have just a name.
