Lakeside showed how far it has come, getting within five points of winning the Ontario Volleyball Association's top division at the provincial championships. Lakeside took the goldmedal game against Durham to three sets and was tied 10-10 before the top-seeded Attack took five of the final six points to win. Lakeside battled its way to victory, taking Lakeside earns silver medal at Ontario volleyball championships the opening set of the final 28-26. Durham rallied in the second set to even the match with a 25-21 win. After trading points in the tiebreaker, the undefeated Durham team managed to pull away for the 15-11 victory. "All of our players stepped up and took our level of play to a new height," Lakeside coach Bear Davies said of his silver-medalist team. "I believe we have put ourselves on the map, gained respect and will continue to improve." After two days of pool play, Lakeside qualified for Tier 1, Division 1 play. After an easy victory in their first playoff game, Lakeside faced Diamonds in the quarter-final. Both teams demonstrated a strong attack, resulting in some spectacular hits and amazing defensive plays on both sides of the net. The teams split the first two sets and Lakeside prevailed with a 15-9 victory in the deciding set. In the semifinals, the Lakeside squad faced the Predators, a team it had lost to in pool play the previous day. The teams were tied 10-10 in the opening set before Lakeside took control on its way to a 25-17, 25-12 victory that guaranteed it at least a silver medal. Lakeside will also be taking part in the U-18 girls provincial championships this weekend. Members of the Lakeside U-17 team are Rebecca Forbes, Roberta Dunlap, Leah Lowe-Davies, Sarah Clark, Laura Stothart, Leslie Nunes, Aleks Arsovic, Katie Venturi, Megan Williams, Joanna Jedrzejewska and coaches Gord Rodwin, Vic Lewis, Bear Davies and Steve Leoni.
