The champions were there to help spread Ellis' message to the students as well as provide insight into proper health and safety practices within the workplace. Also on-hand were several representatives of the Town of Oakville, including Mayor Rob Burton who added to Ellis' comments. "I think the most important thing every kid needs to learn is to stay safe. Don't be afraid to ask questions. No job is worth losing your life." Recently, Ellis added a new feature to his presentation called a Student Safety Charter. The basis of which is a set of eight rules and responsibilities that the students will follow in their careers. To signify they all comprehend and acknowledge the charter the students signed several Team Canada hockey jerseys becoming only the second school to do so. Preparations for the event began a month ago when Ellis asked to help spread his message to students in his hometown of Oakville.
