Hudak made these statements Monday, during a tour of Oakville's Promation Engineering Ltd. The company, which employs 75 people, is a leading manufacturer of robotic systems for the automotive and nuclear industries. "We have world leaders here at Promation and at companies across Ontario," said Hudak. "Talented workers who are making award-winning products, but they are being held back by energy rates that are too high and unpredictable, by taxes that are too high and by this swamp of red tape that bogs any business owner down when they are trying to create new jobs." Hudak fears the situation will worsen, as he expects the Liberals to release a spring budget that will see them backtrack on the existing business tax reductions plan that is supposed to see the business tax rate drop from 11.5 See Low page 8 Burrows loses battle with cancer By David Lea OAKVILLE BEAVER STAFF An Oakville woman has lost her battle with leukemia just days after she called on anyone willing to help her in her fight by getting tested to see if they were a bone marrow match. Laurie Anne Burrows, 50, a holistic nutritionist and personal trainer who lived in the Lakeshore Woods c o m m u n i t y, passed away at around 1 a.m., Saturday, in Toronto's Mount Sinai Hospital. Burrows's death comes a little more than a month after she was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia on Feb. 6. "Laurie shed a small tear and amongst close friends and fam- Laurie Burrows ily gently and peacefully passed from this life," said Laurie's husband, Bruce Burrows, in an online journal Laurie had been using to record her experience with cancer.
