The best athlete is an all-round athlete; that is the motto of The Sports Training Academy in Oakville. In every sport the best athletes are usually good at every sport. They excel in their sport of choice because they have the core strength, agility, speed and general sports acumen. Unlike any other facility, The Sports Training Academy is a brand new 25,000 sq.ft. indoor training facility that caters to young athletes who want to improve their athletic performance through skills training and conditioning through quality professional instruction. "While focusing on a specific sport of choice, athletes are encouraged to train in multiple sports," explains owner and operator and former NHL Player, Mike Kennedy. "This helps the all-round athlete and it keeps things fun and interesting." The Sports Training Academy's March Break and Summer day camps are your child's answer to athletic fun! During the day, girls and boys ages six through 14, can participate in hockey, baseball, soccer, golf, football, gymnastics and fitness. Cheerleading and ball yoga are also available for girls who are less interested in rink hockey training and football. Summer campers will also get to experience off-site training at outdoor facilities. "We encourage children to participate in a variety of sports not only to enhance their overall fitness and athleticism, but Multi-Sport THE MARCH BREAK and The 'all-around athlete' day camp SUMMER CAMP Advertorial to introduce them to a sport they may not otherwise have had the opportunity to try," Kennedy says. "Most children find that they are better at the sports they have never tried than they first thought. It builds their self-esteem and makes them realize that we all have different strengths." Overall sports' training is recognized as an important factor throughout recreational and professional sports, which makes it key, whether your child is only interested in having fun or looking to excel in a specific sport. "After stepping foot in The Sports Training Academy, I know that children and serious young-athletes alike, will benefit from this well-rounded program. Their approach is refreshing and it is about time the Toronto area had a facility where athletes can benefit from this type of cross training atmosphere," says NHL head coach, Ken Hitchcock. Because it has become such a hot topic in schools everywhere, a bullying prevention component has been added to the day camps. The staff and the Academy believe it is important to teach children about the effects of bullying and what can be done to prevent it.
