The contest chose 24 winners, all selected randomly. Each model received star treatment during a one-day shoot at the Newmarket store recently. The idea behind the photo shoot is to have real girls as models for Triple Flip. The Oakville girls, from left are: Makayla Carter (9), Mary Russell (13), Kristen Dion (11) and Katie Ivancic (12). Oireachtas (oireachtas meaning gathering), which regularly see more than 2,000 participants. The event was held in Ottawa this past November. The local qualifiers are Julia Silano, Emily Politeski, Brooke Ezekiel, Jacqueline Boutilier, Rebecca Stewart, Laura Ryan, Mackenzie Wade, Katie Holbrook, Heather Fletcher, Naomi Marsh, Isabella Sims and Ainsley Flemington. To help cover some of the costs of attending the world competition, the girls are hosting The Claddagh Ball on Saturday, March 3. The event takes place at Le Dome Banquet Hall, located at located at 1173 North Service Rd. E. In the spirit of the Claddagh (which is an Irish symbol of friendship, loyalty and love) the dancers will perform for their guests during the gala event. The event will feature dancing, dinner and a silent auction. The ball starts at 6 p.m. Tickets cost $85. Space is limited.
