Mayor's tourney backs KSM Oakville Mayor Rob Burton announced Thursday that Kerr Street Ministries (KSM) will be the beneficiary of the 2012 Mayor's Invitational Tournament. The 2011 tournament succeeded in raising more than $90,000 for local charities. "KSM is an important charity in Oakville that provides innovative programs to support disadvantaged members of our community and help them with their daily lives," said Burton. "This tournament is a fun way to bring the community together in support of a great cause. It does get competitive, and I hope the players are getting ready for spring training." KSM executive director David Di Sabatino said the tournament allows the charity to provide hope and help to families in need. Without the support of the community in efforts like this, Sabatino said the group would really struggle to fulfill its mandate. KSM helps and gives hope to Oakville's most vulnerable citizens. Serving more than 5,000 people, KSM provides holistic support and care particularly for children, youth and low-income families.
