Updated by Halton Region's Elder Services Advisory Committee (ESAC), the directory provides listings and contact information for a range of programs and services that are available to seniors in the region, provided by various levels of government, service clubs, nonprofit and community-based agencies. "The directory is a great resource for seniors in Halton and it is an important way we can help to connect seniors, their families and caregivers with services in the community," Regional Chair Gary Carr said in a news release. "On behalf of regional council, I'd like to thank ESAC for the great work they do to compile the information for the directory and the service providers in our community that help us distribute the directory in Halton." Seniors' directory ready for pickup Key categories in the 2012 directory include: community information; financial aid programs; home and community support programs; housing; legal services; leisure and education; multicultural programs; safety; support groups/counselling services; and transportation. ESAC is distributing the directory to various organizations in Halton so that seniors, families and caregivers can pick up a copy of the directory from their local seniors' centre, library branches, the Community Care Access Centre and municipal offices.
